Oleg Snetkov was born in 1974 in St. Petersburg.

He began with violin lessons with 6 years and then switched to viola.
After in 1992 moving to Germany he continued his studies at the Hamburg Academy of Music, which he successfully completed in 2001.

He worked as a violist in the Philharmonie der Nationen orchestra of Justus Frantz, Orchestra of the Lübeck state theatre, and then in Hamburg Symphony Orchestra
He has played as soloist with orchestras from Germany, Russia and Finland.

He participated in master classes with famous soloist violist Prof. Yuri Bashmet.
 
He repeatedly took part in the Schleswig - Holstein Musicfestival (Germany), played  chamber music with renowned musicians such as Franz Helmerson (cello), Daniel Hope (violin), Alexander Melnikov(piano).

 
In the meantime, he took conducting lessons and participated in master classes of renowned teachers such as Prof.Ilya Musin (St.-Petersburg) and Prof.Erma Panula (Helsinki)

 
He continued his studies with Professor Dumitru Goia at the Bucharest University of Music. (Romania). He graduated in 2005 as symphonical and operatic conductor, and just as a musicologist.

 He worked as conductor of the International Dortmund Symphony Orchestra and the New Philharmony Hamburg (Germany), Bodo Sinfonietta (Norway), Tapiola Sinfonietta (Finnland), Verona Kammerorchester (Italy), Budapest Symphonie Orchester (Hungary), Musik Universitet Orchester von Bukharest (Romania), Stadt Hermitage Orchestra von St.-Petersburg (Russia).

He has also worked as a conductor with several choirs, such as the famous Metropolitan Chorus from South Korea.

In the theater of Bodo (Norway), he has worked on productions of operas by contemporary composers.
He played with orchestras from Russia, Finland, Germany, Italy, Hungary and Romania.
and gave concerts in the house-museum of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in Klin
Oleg Snetkov is a frequent guest at the Festival of St. Petersburg  in the State Hermitage.
In addition to the classical music he also has worked on some creative with electronic, alternative music and film music.


Rejected his Russian citizenship as a protest towards of the Russian invasion of the Ukraine and the occupation of Krim.
